A bunch of my foodie friends began raving about this certain Queso de Bola Cheesecake a couple of weeks ago, and since I’m all about the convincing powers of WOM (word of mouth), I had to try it out for myself.
I love cheesecake, but I prefer the cheesier type to the saccharine and jello-laced impostors. Since I lived in New York, I was spoiled by Junior’s Cheesecake as well as Carnegie Deli’s cheesecakes which are more savory than they are sweet. This Queso de Bola Cheesecake looked just like that, minus the height.
The consistency of the cheesecake is slightly lumpy, with a smooth mouthfeel that lingers around your mouth just like pure cheese does.
I love the thick graham cracker crust which reminds me of good pies.
The Queso de Bola is quite evident in the rich yellowish color, and the addition of cream cheese makes the cake creamy and holds well.
I’m very picky about my desserts and also my cheesecakes, but this one is definitely on my favorites list. The simplicity of the cheesecake, which is not too sweet, is perfect when paired with some fresh berries or fruit. The delectable queso de bola reminds you of a special holiday stable, which makes this dessert something worth bringing to parties and get-togethers. It also holds well for over a week, which is the amount of time it stayed on the fridge before it disappeared.
You can get a mini-size cheesecake for yourself for P200, while the 9-inch cheesecake goes for P900 and is well worth the calories as well as the price tag
You can order the Queso de Bola Cheesecake at Indulgence by Irene – Irene’s # is 0917-6225800.
