Before I flew out to Maldives, I had to go through a very intense packing session. Packing, for ToT, is a multi-day affair, capped off by my ‘Ate Tess’ refolding and reorganizing everything I dump atop my suitcase, to actually IN my suitcase. Since this is a dive trip, there are a lot of things that I had to pack. My wetsuit, fins, underwater camera case, etc. But the one thing that always tops my list is SUNBLOCK.
For those who have seen me up close, first think that is evident is that I am one big giant freckle. I have freckles not only on my face, but on my arms, legs, body, and other areas not even exposed to the sun. For this alone, I need a LOT of protection. So I scooped up a bunch of these cute SunPlay sunblocks before leaving. They come in these handy sizes, which work best for the face.
There’s 3 different versions of SunPlay. For the majority of Filipinas who do NOT want to get dark, the SPF47 version is the Powdery White type with Vitamin C&E and comes off as somewhat of a BB cream. I do NOT want to turn like an espasol, so I left this at home. I will give it to my mom who has alabaster skin.
There is the Clear Water version which is SPF50 and has Aloe Extract. It comes out clear and will take care of the espasol look if you are worried about looking pasty. SPF50 is already a high number, but I am a sucker for ULTIMATES, so…
I end up bringing with me the SUPER BLOCK, SPF130 PA+++ which gives maximum protection from UVA and UVB rays. I don’t know how much better SPF130 is from SPF100, but the extra 30% makes me feel more secure about going under the sun.
I just slathered it on now and it has that ‘Watery Liquid’ feel that makes it quite light and easy to apply. Japanese products are great with these light textures.
It is also quite handy in size, so I can just dump it in my beach bag and apply every couple of hours.
It is super waterproof so I’m hoping this will keep me skin-cancer free for my 7 days of diving. And I don’t look pasty at all! Well, I kinda do… but that’s because I really am. Wait til I get under the sun for a few hours…

You can get them at your nearest Watson’s Drugstores in Manila. Hope the 35ml bottle lasts for 10 days!
